Samantha Northway – Owner
- BMid (Hons) 2:1 – The University of Nottingham.
- MSc Medical Ultrasound – Glasgow Caledonian University.
- Member of British Medical Ultrasound Society (BMUS).
“Originally from Lincoln I spent several years living and working in Glasgow at a dedicated early pregnancy unit before moving back to my home county. On deciding my future career move I knew I wanted to continue with a dedicated and autonomous early pregnancy service. Having explored what early pregnancy services were available, I decided the best way to utilise my knowledge and skills would be to provide a high quality, easy to access, professional yet affordable service for the women of Lincolnshire, Newark and surrounding areas.
As well as being an experienced Midwife and Sonographer I am also a mother and grandmother, which brings a wealth of knowledge as well as a understanding of the anxieties that face families in the early stages of pregnancy. During my career I have supported and counselled women who have sadly experienced recurrent miscarriage (often resulting in happy endings). I have diagnosed many ectopic pregnancies, molar pregnancies, ovarian cysts, fibroids and other gynaecological anomalies.
My aim for every appointment at ScanLinc is to provide a first class personalised service, catering for both the physical and emotional needs of each family, resulting in a positive and valuable experience .”
Jenifer Reid – Midwife Sonographer
- BSc Midwifery Degree with distinction 2006, GCU.
- A qualified midwife with over ten years experience.
- studied at SHU (Sheffield Hallam) for 3rd trimester Ultrasound, she qualified in May 2018.
- Proficient in 3/4D and now adds that to her list of areas of expertise.
“I am passionate about early pregnancy and Ultrasound scanning. My first scan course was in 2010 when I worked as a rural midwife in the highlands of Scotland. I passed the course and performed booking scans for women at their first visit and also presentation scans when we needed to determine position in the third trimester. I then undertook a more detailed scan course at masters level in 2014 which enabled me to work as a midwife sonographer in a busy early pregnancy unit in Glasgow.
It was here that I met Samantha in 2014 and from there we became friends. I moved to the area in 2017 and realising what a great service Sam had set up made me want to become part of it and I was fortune to join her in June 2018. Her aim to provide a first class service is reflected in how she runs Scanlinc and I feel privileged to be part of that and to share such an important time with women and families.”
Megan Evans – Midwife Sonographer
- BSc Midwifery – First class honors degree – Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge
- MSc Medical Ultrasound – Post-graduate Certificate in Obstetric and Early Pregnancy Ultrasound – Derby University
“I trained as a midwife in Cambridge and then returned to my hometown Lincoln where I practiced as a midwife at Lincoln County Hospital. I then found my passion caring for women during the antenatal period. It was during this time in my career that my interest in ultrasound developed. I was enrolled onto a postgraduate Medical Ultrasound course through which I was trained at Pilgrim Hospital in early pregnancy, mid-trimester and third trimester scanning and gained the title Midwife Sonographer.
My experience as a midwife is invaluable to my role as a sonographer as I have been privileged to support many women, and their families through the rollercoaster that pregnancy can be. Being able to combine my two passions into one role in order to give a great service is my main aim.
Upon learning of the services being offered at Scanlinc I knew this was somewhere I could allow my passions to flourish. Pregnancy is such an important and unique time and I strive to ensure that this is reflected in each appointment by tailoring the experience to women and their families’ emotional and physical needs.“
Karis Annette – Midwife, Hypnobirthing and Antenatal Specialist
“After qualifying with a Midwifery degree 10 years ago, I chose to pursue an independent role straight out of university. During my career I have specialised in antenatal teaching, post-natal support and baby massage groups.
Supporting and empowering women has always been my main ambition so when by chance I overheard a conversation between two new mothers I knew what I heard would change my focus. Both had had very positive birthing experiences, one without intervention and one with every intervention possible but both used hypnobirthing techniques. They described their experience as empowering.
After training to be a Hypnobirthing instructor I have finally found an area where I can truly make a significant difference to women’s birthing experiences. Hypnotherapy is a very powerful tool that has huge benefits during every stage of pregnancy, post-birth and beyond.
Early pregnancy hypnotherapy/support classes are now being offered to ScanLinc clients as either group or one-to-one sessions.”
